Too many hats

Hats

Good morning, noon, and night friends from afar!

As always, thank you for following TLC Therapies. By now, you know this blog is geared toward the generic. So, regardless of your space in life right now, we recognize that we all still suffer some seemingly overwhelming feelings.

Yes, I am wearing a hat; it’s metaphorical, as am I.

Like masks, we all wear different hats during the day and in our lives. I, for example, switch from therapist to daughter to mom to wife to friend to colleague to businesswoman in a nanosecond.

What I have found is that being all these people is not only physically, but also emotionally draining.

At this time of year, when our school goers are writing exams, parents become tutors, friends become study buddies, and at the same time, we are the same people wherever else we go.

Although it is important to remember your hat, remember too that you can use “sunscreen,” yes, another metaphor but equally important.

By sunscreen, I mean, wherever possible, remain your authentic self. Just be YOU. What people think of you is none of your business, and when we love ourselves, others love us.

You will always need to wear a different hat or mask, but make sure it doesn’t hide the beauty beneath, which is you.
